Fun For The Whole Family With The Sacramento Kings
Ok, so a few weeks ago the Sacramento King’s invited my family and I to the new Golden 1 Center for a King’s basketball game! They also invited some of my fellow mom bloggers for a special tour of the new arena to highlighT their state-of-the-art amenities and family-friendly accommodations.
The Golden 1 Center is the world’s most technologically advanced and sustainable arena! In January, the Kings were recognized with First 5 Sacramento’s High 5 Award for Innovation Family-Friendly Large Business.
Some of those amenities include a nursing pod for mothers’ and their children, family restrooms on every level of the arena, and the first NBA team to feature All-Gender Restrooms. Inclusivity is part of Golden1’s mission, and theY’re leading the nba in this as well.
Being a mom of three young boys, I can really appreciate amenities like the Mamava Breastfeeding Pod. I was hesitant, in the paSt, to go anywhere when I was breastfeeding my sons so going to a basketball game with would have never even crossed my mind. But Golden1 Center has taken new moms into consideration. The stadium also provides special sensory kits – including noise-canceling headphones, fidget tools, verbal cue cards, and weighted lap pads – for guests who may feel overwhelmed by the environment. I mean, that’s pretty awesome! I even saw a cute couple in the row in front of us during the game with their new baby wearing a pair on noise-canceling headphones.
Basketball games and other events being held at the arena can be overwhelming for those old and young. So I thought it was really cool to learn about their sensory room. Parents can take their children to the sensory room located on the first floor, fully equipped with comfy couches and bean bags to wind down after becoming overstimulated.
Golden 1 Center also follows a sourcing and sustainability charter including gluten free, vegan and vegetarian options to meet most dietary needs. They source 90% of their ingredients from local growers and producers within And 150-mile radius. And most recently, Golden 1 Center announced a Meatless Monday Campaign. Another fun and technological integration they have is their Kings + Golden 1 Center app! The app allows fans to order food from their seat for delivery, see which concessions have the shortest lines and view menu options. You can locate step by step directions to your desired destinations within the arena, find the closest bathroom and view wait times. I also learned if you are walking back to your seat, and happen to drop your hotdog or drink, employees in the control center sends someone out immediately to clean the mess, and they’ll replace your dropped food items for you!
We also learned about the King’s Kids Club and the Jr. Kings. The King’s Kids Club membership is free or upgrade to an All-Star Membership for just $25 And get the Kids Club kit filled with Kings gifts, a free ticket to a game and more! Members also get the opportunity to participate in special experiences at the arena like free throws on the court after that game!
The Jr. King’s program is developed for kids ages 6 to 14. Whether it’s their clinics, camps, or leagues, coaches create individualized instruction for all skill levels. Kids are taught key fundamentals of the game, sportsmanship, work ethic and respect! Coaches include NBA and WNBA legends whose background also include youth mentoring.
